This is a review of a small portion of the equipment Tactical Tailor offers as a part of their line.
The equipment was all purchased and is currently being used by the author, and the author's wife. Each piece of equipment will be spoken for separately, as to eliminate confusion of pros and cons of each piece of equipment.
1. MAV (Modular Assault Vest), 1-Piece
2. Large Utility Pouch
3. 3-Mag Rifle Pouch
4. Motorola Talkabout Pouch
5. Modular Flashbang/Smoke Pouch
6. Modular X-Harness
7. MALICE Attachment Clips
This unit actually belongs
to the Author's wife. The reason being, after exhaustive searching, and many
hundreds of dollars later, the author and his wife found Chest Rigs to be the
most comfortable and versatile while maintaining durability and utility.
The MAV is 18 MOLLE Loops
across, and provides 3 rows of loops for the user to attach pouches. The vest
is constructed from 1000 denier Cordura nylon and Mil-spec webbing, which
allows for the maximum strength with the minimum of weight.
The Author chose this over
Specialty Defense System’s RACK (Ranger Assault Carry Kit) chest rig for his
wife for only one reason. The chest area was more “open” to facilitate the
requirements of a woman.
Once all pouches have been
attached and their contents filled, and the straps across the back become
cinched, the vest is quite snug and comfortable. However, the straps themselves
are not comfortable and bite into the user’s back and shoulders when being
used. The Author suggests the addition of the Tactical Tailor Modular X-Harness
to the vest. In fact, the Author would not recommend purchasing this vest
without the addition of the X-Harness. A review of the X-Harness is below-

2. Large
Utility Pouch
Although the product description
describes this as a Large Utility Pouch, it is severely hampered by it’s size.
I would call it a Medium, however they do not have another larger utility
pouch. The main problem with this is the lack of “depth”. It is approx
9”x6”x2”. The 2” width is the main restrictor.
This pouch also has an
optional use Velcro securing system to compliment the fastex buckle closure.
Smart.
In addition, it also
features MOLLE attachment points below the buckle and on the sides of the
pouch.
This unit is not very well
designed, however it does not lack durability or strength. I have found the
only things that really fit well are a folded USGI poncho, and a tab of
waterproof paper. Other than that, it is either too big for some items,
(Canteens, Nalgene Bottles), or too small for other items, (MRE’s, Medical
Supplies).
One would be better off
purchasing and using soft SAW pouches that are readily available at surplus
stores and online gear distributors.

3. 3-Mag
Rifle Pouch
One of the best pouches
offered for USGI AR-15/M-16 Magazines that you can purchase. These are solid
construction, and very tight tolerances.
Anyone who has ever used
Cordura web gear for an extended period of time knows it takes some breaking in
to get comfortable and pliable. These pouches have been made with that in mind.
When I first received my pouches I immediately stuffed them with 3 mags each.
It took me about 5 minutes to get each pouch full of the three mags because the
pouch was made so tight. THIS IS GOOD, as after use, the cordura will loosen
and stretch. As of the writing of this, the author has used these pouches quite
often, and the cordura has loosed and stretched, but because of the tightness
of the construction, the looseness is a comfortable looseness rather than a sloppy
one.
All quality here!!

4.
Motorola Talkabout Pouch
This is a tight pouch. Much
like the 3-Mag Pouch above. Getting your FRS or GMRS radio to fit will be
challenging; but once in, you will have a very secure piece of equipment.
Be aware because of the
small size, the pouch is difficult to attach to MOLLE gear, but once on is
SOLID.
There is a small piece of
550 cord sewn into the pouch for extra security in attaching your radio,
however, I found that nearly useless, and cut it off. Your radio and use may
vary, so each different user may either appreciate it, or cut it off like
myself.

5. Modular Flashbang/Smoke Pouch
This is a great little
pouch that can be used for things other than a Flashbang or Smoke Grenade. This
author actually uses it to house a 6oz OC/CS Grenade used in crowd dispersion.
This pouch is nearly
identical to a 3-Mag Pouch, just in a smaller size.

6. Modular X-Harness
Quite possibly the single
best Chest Rig modification out on the market right now. Not only does it
alleviate Hot Spots and chaffing in the shoulders and back, it also adds more
attachment points on both the front and back.
This is a well though out
and constructed modification, and the author highly recommends this to anyone
out there who uses chest rigs.
ONE WARNING!!!! You must be
able to cut and cinch the webbing on both the rig and the modification for this
to be used. If you are not comfortable with taking scissors to your combat rig,
take it to the MCSS or your local tailor to install.

7. MALICE Attachment Clips
These are brilliant.
Whoever thought these up should be given a raise.
These clips allow the user to
quickly and securely attach the pouch to any type of attachment system. ALICE,
MOLLE, PALS, SPEAR, and regular old belts can all be used with this system.
The way in which the clip
locks and unlocks is smart, efficient, and durable.
Be aware though, the first
use of this clip is tough, and requires “working it” into the attachment loops.
